Days counted as weekend

One YYYY-MM-DD per line. Public holidays are deliberately not built in — paste the official calendar for the year.

About this tool

Enter a date range and get the number of working days, weekend days, and holidays. Which days count as the weekend is a checkbox, so a six-day week, shift work, or working weekends all work. The holiday list is pasted in, one date per line, deliberately rather than shipped: public holidays are announced yearly and frequently adjusted, and a built-in list with no source would quietly go wrong the following year. You can also work the other way and find the date N working days from a start.

How it works

  1. Enter the date range, or switch to "N working days from".
  2. Tick which days count as the weekend.
  3. Paste the holiday list as YYYY-MM-DD, one per line, and read the result.

Assumptions

No country's holidays are built in; you supply the list. Which days count as weekend is configurable too.

Privacy

Every calculation runs inside this browser. Dates and birthdays are never uploaded, stored, or written to the URL or any log.

Frequently asked questions

Why are no public holidays built in?
Holidays are announced each year by each government and are often shifted to create long weekends. A built-in list with no year or source attached would silently produce wrong answers the next year. Pasting the official calendar for the year you care about keeps the result traceable.
Does the count include the start date?
Yes. Both the start and end dates count if they are not a weekend and not in the holiday list, which is the definition normally used for leave and project duration.
