DATE AND TIME · CALCULATED IN YOUR BROWSER

Date Difference Calculator

Find the days, weeks, and months between two dates, split into weekdays and weekend days.

Difference

The end date is currently excluded, so this is the gap between the dates.

Enter a valid start date.

Input

Nights exclude it; event lengths usually include it.

About this tool

Enter a start and end date to get the total days, total weeks, the gap broken into years, months, and days, and how many of those days were weekdays versus weekend days. Including the end date is a toggle, because "how many nights" and "how many days does the event run" differ by exactly that one day, and the tool lets you decide rather than guessing for you.

How it works

  1. Enter the start and end dates.
  2. Decide whether the end date counts.
  3. Read the totals, the year-month-day breakdown, and the weekday split.

Assumptions

Whether the end date counts is yours to choose; the two readings differ by exactly one day. Everything is calculated locally.

Privacy

Every calculation runs inside this browser. Dates and birthdays are never uploaded, stored, or written to the URL or any log.

Frequently asked questions

What changes when I include the end date?
Excluding it counts the gap between the dates: 1 January to 2 January is 1 day. Including it counts the calendar days covered, so the same pair becomes 2 days. Hotel nights use the first reading; leave days and event lengths usually use the second.
Why is the month count not the total days divided by 30?
Months are different lengths, so the breakdown steps through the calendar instead of using an average. 15 March to 15 April is exactly one month, not one month and one day because March is long.
